Try These Gifts
So you got a date from an online dating site, now what? Many men wonder what to do on a first date, especially if it’s been a while since they’ve been on one. Do you still open doors? Well, it’s Canada, so yes. Do you still insist on paying? Do you still bring a gift?
We do recommend that you bring a small gift with you on the first date. Make sure you don’t overspend, because that can make you look tacky, and if she’s underwhelmed, it can lead to resentment.
Shoot for between $20 and $40.
This mainly depends on your budget, but you don’t want to look extremely cheap. You also don’t want to look like you’re trying to buy her affections with this one gift.
Find a gift that suits the evening.
The first thing you have to do when choosing a gift is be aware of your situation. For example, if you’re going to a nice restaurant, a bottle of wine can be a good and tasteful gift for a first date.
That’s not, however, a great gift to bring somewhere you’re meeting for fun, such as if you decide to meet up at a Laser-Tag arena and run around chasing each other.
While we also recommend that as a fun date (that may need to be saved for the third or fourth date), we don’t recommend bringing a bottle of wine. They smash too easily.
Choosing a gift can be frightening, especially for the first date.
Some of this might be because there is no real well known “first date gift.” You’re really just trying to impress someone you haven’t even met yet, which may or may not be as easy or as difficult as it sounds, depending on the girl and where you are in your life.
You can always try bath products.
Long held as the friend of men who don’t know what to get the women in their lives, bath soaps and scrubs are again the answer. Most women will not turn up their noses to a nice foot soak or a specialty soap.
Just avoid the one for grating the callouses off of her foot. That’s presumptuous.
